A Brief History of Archimedes

“Eureka”, it was the word introduced by Archimedes. A Greek and famous mathematician who was born in Syracuse on 290-280 BC. Archimedes was a very important people in Greece because his discovery. His discovery was the invention of relation on formulation of hydrostatic force.

As scientist, His interesting was optical and mechanical devices. He was the first person realized that there is a relation between the surface and volume of matter. Then the hydrostatic principle or popular as Archimedes’ principle was found. After the formula is created, then he invented a device used to bring water upside. In several nations, the method of water raising is still used and commonly called as the Archimedes screw.

Another popularity of Archimedes is the word “Eureka”. It is a word emerged by him after found the gold and silver phenomena. The story told the weight of gold and silver are different when those materials are placed on water. Furthermore, the weight proportion is called density. The density of material is ratio of material mass and volume of the material. Moreover, it explains why a material in hover, drift or submerge conditions. All of it depends on the density of material.

The formula is found by Archimedes also known as Archimedes’ force. The mathematical formula can be written as force equal to the multiplication between density, gravity and fluid-covered volume. It is used as a basic principle of hydraulic system.
